One more thing

Because I love blogging I am still here finding stuff and I came across this while going over the story of stuff which if you haven't seen I'll just post it, but there is a collection of lovely story of things that helps to give perspective on the massive amount of "stuff, that our society is acumulating and some of the cause and effects of why these things happen" Anyway As a women, that loves the bath and worked in the beauty indistry for over 5 years I can confidently say that it leaves a lot to be desired as to how these companies provide products without the care to why we would need such stuff or if it is good for us to begin with, does this really make you more beautiful? hmmmmmmm.

Food Farm Solution - Looks exactly like Nature! Tastes Good too.

I have never been able to get this Ted talk out of my head. It is always such a simple thing, and so strange that as a culture in America we are always trying to reinvent the process to create something "easier"or "more efficient" Can anything be more efficient than nature? And if it was, wouldn't it naturally replace what wasn't? Food For Thought. (in best  David Caruso voice)

Passing up the Shopping Trip

All my life I have always loved a good find.  Part of being an artist and just generally enjoying self expression through stuff is a 2nd nature. Yet if you pause it is a cultural nature that demands expression and this is manipulated into consumerism which can then be packaged as disposable. How can you be a passionate and evolving person without the constant accumlation of stuff? not easily.  Breaking the cycle  might start at appreciating and reinventing what you have. When it is time to let go, let go clearing the decks for the new is much healthier than collecting the newest must have. Sometimes life happens and pure inspiration comes in strange places and the Universe offers trophies (rewards) for a job well done, if you feel you are worthy than trust in the Gift.

Sunday Streets in San Francisco Mission

What can be nicer that waking up and discovering that there is a community party outside your house. The streets have closed and it is now an afternoon of walking, biking, children playing, couples strolling, and merchants and community organizations setting up shop. In SF this also means there was a free massage table, hula hoops, bike rentals, and rollerskate rentals, costumes, plenty of homegrown ghetto blasters and even the radio came out to play. This program which has been going on since March floats around the city and will be ending in October and is sure to return next year due to it's undoubted success.

There were drinks and energy bars and snacks for people
Walgreens had a tent?  well I'm glad their employees got some Vitamin D while handing coupons and drinks and stress relievers. HAHAHAHAHA
I got to check out the new Bcycle- bike sharing program that was just implemeted in Denver and hopefully will come to SF.
Met a Kevin who designed an electric bike right here in SF -  Plugz-rental.com
Checked in with GreenPeace and found out about Teachin marking the 3 month anniversary of the BP spill.
Met a writer for the weekend sherpa a guide to get out in the wild?
met and chatted with the guys at SF Water- which should be something that everyone should be required to tour when moving in to a city or town- go visit the water and trash sites so you know and are grateful for how the system works.
City Car Share
And last but not least About-Face.org an exciting non profit that works on building healthy body image for young women.

What does this mean? well it means that community is vital and having quality time with your family friends, or spending time helping out the organizations that you love means that you can have a happy and healthier lifestyle.

Fun fact : you would need to eat over 50 peaches to get the same amount of vitamin A you would get from eating 1 peach in 1950.
